dc.description.abstract | Abstract An effective system of banking supervision will have clear responsibilities and objectives for each agency involved in the supervision ,of banks. Each such agency should possess operational independence and adequate resources. A suitable legal framework for banking supervision is also necessary including provisions relating to authorization of banking establishments and their ongoing supervision; powers to address compliance with laws as well as safety and soundness concerns; and legal protection for supervisors. Arrangements for sharing information between supervisors and protection for confidentiality of such information should be in place. Research Questions o How Government does ensure the regulation & supervision of Banks? 01 What is the role of Central Bank in regulation and supervision? Q What method the government needs to adopt to regulate a bank? o What are the international experiences in the banking sector reforms? o Status of present banking system? Hypothesis Q Objectives of banking regulation in India . .0 Dual Control: An area of tension between RBI and the State Government. o BASLE Committee core principles and supervision & surveillance across central Banks.
