Abstract:
Healthcare is one of the most important drivers’ for economic prosperity in the
country. With the decrease in the healthcare spending and lack of availability of
sufficient resources, it becomes important to reduce the burden on the resources by
focussing on prevention of disease. The early diagnosis of diseases by using
diagnostic imaging equipment is one such way. The diagnostic imaging equipment is
imported from abroad due to the technological complexity of the devices which
makes these procedures extremely expensive.
In this paper, the identification of the correct policies for boosting the domestic
manufacture of the diagnostic imaging equipment is being done. Here the analysis of
the correct policies is done based on understanding the environment for boosting
innovation, regulatory landscape and economic incentives for promoting boosting
diagnostic imaging equipment.
